Notes on the first day of class.

Isaac:

My school was really fun because it was awesome. My teacher's name is Mrs. Schulte, and she is amazing. First I went outside to play, and then I came in and then I learned some more and then I had lunch for ten minutes and then I went outside for a shorter time and then I did gym and then I did computer and then done. I made a new friend who helped me with my puzzle thing, but I don't exactly know her name yet. I also helped some other kids do their puzzles and find their snacks.

Katie:

The gates of heaven opened and a chorus of angels began to sing when my new stats professor went over the sum of squared residuals the least squares theory in class today. I understood every word. I even understood why we take n-1 degrees of freedom! It's because we used the data to calculate the sum of squares, so one of our values is not independent!

I really can't explain to you what a relief it is to have a good teacher.

A secondary note on socks:

Isaac sighed with relief when he put on socks this morning. He needed to wear socks so that we could wear our matching chucks on the first day of school. He actually said, "Ahhh, socks." I, on the other hand, am a sock-hater. My toes feel suffocated and crowded when they have a sock covering them. I love wearing flip flops and wish I could wear them year round! And I can never EVER sleep with socks on. It drives me wild.

Reader poll: In the winter, do you sleep with socks on or off?

That's so funny, KT, I am a sock hater too! I NEVER wear socks to bed, EVER. Have to have my feet hanging out the side/end of covers when I sleep. I hope I can wear my sandals long time yet- haha. I am so happy to hear Isaac's 1st day went well. Mine did too, even though I hardly slept & worried- it always turns out aight. I don't think the kids can imagine that the teachers get nervous, too! SunnyD
P.S.- your top 3 names from my list are our top 3 as of now as well! Freaky!

If it is really cold, I will go to bed with socks on. But I always manage to take them off during the night, because my feet get too hot. In general, I hate to have socks on and when I have to wear them I take them off as soon as I get home.

I'm glad that the first day of school went well for both of you. My son is not looking forward to going back to school on Thursday. I hope it will go well...

Socks off for bed- always. Unless I'm in Montello, then I wear the socks or I might lose a limb to frostbite. :)

I have a complicated relationship with my socks.

1. I love having funky ones that don't match each other.

2. I HATE putting them on.

3. I don't care much for wearing them- I'd much rather wear sandals.

4. I have horrible circulation in my feet, so even if it's 90 degrees out my toes feel like ice.

5. I often sleep with them on or else my toes will wake me up if I touch them to another part of my body. But my inner sock-hater comes out while I sleep, so that I always wake up sockless, even if I didn't go to bed that way.

I like the socks in the winter, depending on the coldness of the room. R needs it cold, but he is hot like a furnace. Sometimes I even wear socks in the summer if the air conditioning is too cold!

Yay for the first day of school!

OFF! Take them off as soon as I get home. As a kid I used to walk barefoot all the time!
